Hate is on the rise in Canada with a steady increase of hate crimes since 2019. Some statistics* at a glance show that: 💢 Police-reported hate crimes in Canada rose 32% (2022–2023) 💢 3,612 police-reported (2022) vs 4,777 police-reported (2023) 💢 BC was one of the provinces that saw the largest increases of hate crimes reporting a total of 198 (2020) 💢 Hate crimes targeting Canada’s South Asian population saw an increase of 143% (2019–2022) These numbers can feel overwhelming, but every action matters.
