March 21 is the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, a day that commemorates the killing of 69 people at a peaceful anti-apartheid demonstration in South Africa in 1960. All these years later, progress has been made but not enough. This day is a reminder that racial discrimination continues to take place every day, globally and locally, with statistics showing it’s even on the rise. That is why DIVERSEcity is hosting our Together Against Hate Community Forum: Eliminating Racism for a Better Future this Saturday in #SurreyBC. We look forward to a day of reflection and dialogue, capping off our Together Against Hate campaign. For more information on our Together Against Hate project and resources, please visit: www.dcrs.ca/resources/together-against-hate-project/ We’ll be releasing more information gathered at our Community Forum this weekend in the days to come so we can continue sharing anti-hate learnings in our communities.Experiencing racism and need support? At the DIVERSEcity x Minerva Women’s Leadership Forum earlier this month, one question asked of the panelists was, “What advice would you offer to women to grow, lead and #bloom?”“It's important to remember where you came from because everyone starts somewhere on the career ladder,” said Marisa Espinosa, Director, Major Studies, TransLink. “Really thinking about the legacy that you can offer for future generations is important, and any opportunity that you have, you can be a leader, whether it's in your community and your profession.” Thank you again to Marisa for sharing your perspective at our event. #ForPeopleForCommunities #IWD2025 #minervabc #surreybc #vancouverbc ...
